This 20 mm thick unfinished, oak engineered flooring in prime grade is part of our Timberlay oak collection and is completely ready for finishing in any domestic or commercial flooring project. This 190 mm wide flooring plank comes with 4 mm top layer and tongue-and-groove joint system.
4 mm Hardwood Wear Layer
Timberlay Engineered Oak Wood Flooring, Prime, Unfinished, 190x4x20 Mm has a 4 mm real hardwood top layer, a generous wear layer for engineered wood flooring. The top layer, or wear layer, is the solid wood surface you walk on. Its thickness decides how many times the floor can be sanded and refinished during its life.
A professional sanding usually removes around 0.5–1 mm of timber, so a 4 mm wear layer can typically be renovated 2–3 times. Between sandings, the finish can also be refreshed with a recoat of lacquer or maintenance oil, without sanding back to bare wood.

Oak Flooring
Oak is an extremely versatile wood type - a medium density hardwood, with strength, character and durability surpasses many other timber species. Oak starts soft and malleable, but once dry becomes hard and durable. Whether aged by the weather or preserved with a suitable stain or varnish, the beauty of Oak is undeniable. Its distinctive look exudes quality, and its rich colouring and attractive woodgrain deliver an elegant texture. Prime Grade Selection
Timberlay Engineered Oak Wood Flooring, Prime, Unfinished, 190x4x20 Mm is available in Prime grade, the most selective grade of timber. In the UK, Prime grade allows no knots and very little colour variation between planks, giving the floor a clean, even and uniform appearance.
This consistent look suits modern and minimalist interiors as well as elegant traditional schemes, and it works particularly well in large open-plan spaces, where a calm, uninterrupted surface makes the room feel bigger. Because only a small part of each log meets the Prime standard, it is usually the premium choice in a collection.

Installation
With a 20 mm thickness, Timberlay Engineered Oak Wood Flooring, Prime, Unfinished, 190x4x20 Mm gives excellent rigidity and stability, and can even be laid as a suspended floor directly over battens or timber joists (typically at no more than 400 mm centres; always check the manufacturer's guidance). It can be secret-nailed, glued down or floated over underlay, and this thickness often comes with an extended guarantee.
Over underfloor heating (UFH) a glue-down installation is highly recommended, using a flexible wood flooring adhesive from our adhesives & damp-proofers range.

Returns
Any unopen flooring packs can be returned within 14 days of delivery with 25% restocking charge. Products must be return in original packaging without any damage. Cost of delivery back to base is paid by the customer.Products with extended lead times
